One of the biggest remaining question remarks heading into the 2024 season for the New York Giants was who was going to be calling plays.
Well, that question has been answered.
The team’s head coach revealed to reporters on Tuesday that he will taking over play-calling duties from offensive coordinator Mike Kafka.
“Yeah, I’m doing it,” Daboll said as his team prepared for its season opener against the Minnesota Vikings.
Daboll was asked about the decision to take over play-calling duties from Kafka, who was calling plays the last two seasons but declined to go into specifics. You can look no further than the team’s lackadaisical offense last season that averaged just 11.8 points per game while starting 2-8 and finishing 6-11.
There is a lot of pressure on Daboll and the Giants to bounce back after an abysmal 6-11 season. The team made the playoffs in his first season back in 2021 but fell flat on their face in 2022. With Daboll calling plays and the team using the No. 6 pick on LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers, the thought process is the offense is going to be a lot better. At least it should be.
The Giants open the season on Sunday at 1 p.m. against the Minnesota Vikings at home.
