The Dallas Mavericks stunned the sports world after trading superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for a package centered around Anthony Davis.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who’s a Mavericks fan, was just like everyone other Mavs fan when the trade happened. He posted several times on social media about his displeasure with the Dallas Mavericks organization about trading away the 25-year-old super star.
On Monday, during Media Day for the upcoming Super Bowl, Mahomes was asked about the Doncic trade. Mahomes kept his response classy and wished Doncic the best now that he’s in Los Angeles.
“As a Dallas fan, it hurts me. But I’m happy that [Luka Doncic] gets to go out there and be in Los Angeles and try to achieve his dream of winning a championship.”
The Mavericks traded Doncic away after he spent six and a half seasons with the organization. During his time in Dallas, the superstar point guard had led the Mavericks to two Western Conference Finals and a Finals appearance in a three-year span.
As for the Lakers, they enter another new era and will be focusing on building the roster around Doncic and LeBron James until the latter eventually retires. So far this season, the former Mavericks star has averaged 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game. He’s also shooting 46.4% from the field and 35.4% from the three-point line.
