It was a tumultuous 2025 season for A.J. Brown with the Eagles as he had made headlines numerous times while voicing his displeasure with the team’s offense. Those displeasures got so bad, Brown had requested a trade numerous times during the season.
According to Joseph Santoliquito of Bleeding Green Nation, Brown asked for a trade a number of times this past season and as “early as after the Eagles beat the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3.”
Brown’s 2025 season was the worst as a pro since 2021 when he caught a career-low 63 receptions for 869 yards and five touchdowns. This season, Brown caught 78 passes for 1,003 yards, his lowest output since 2021.
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman was asked about trading A.J. Brown and didn’t exactly rule it out, but did offer support for the wide receiver.
“It is hard to find great players in the NFL, and A.J. is a great player. I think from my perspective, that’s what we’re going out and looking for when we go out here in free agency, in the draft, just trying to find great players who love football, and he’s that guy.”
Brown, who was clearly disgruntled all year, saw his play be impacted by it, most notably in the Eagles’ 23-19 NFC Wild Card Game last week.
Brown dropped a pass down the middle on a third-and-five at the Eagles’ 40 with 2:21 left to play. The ball went right through his hands. Brown was targeted seven times in the game, catching three passes for mere 25 yards—and he looked old, and creaky doing it.
It’s going to be an interesting offseason in Philadelphia.
