After days of negotiating to finalize a deal, the Giants and John Harbaugh have come to an agreement to make him the head coach of the New York Giants.
Harbaugh confirmed the deal to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Ian O’Conner.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Harbaugh had accepted to become the Giants head coach and the two sides were working to finalize a contract. Harbaugh’s camp reportedly wanted “total clarity” on who he will report to and his preference is “a situation similar” to what he had with the Baltimore Ravens, reporting directly to owner Steve Bisciotti rather than the general manager.
Harbaugh confirmed to O’Connor that he will be reporting directly to team owner John Mara.
Dan Duggan of The Athletic noted the Giants have historically had their head coach report directly to the GM, which could explain why the negotiations were so prolonged.
Harbaugh’s contract will be five years worth at least $100 million.
Harbaugh went 180-113 with 12 playoff appearances and a victory in Super Bowl 47 in 18 seasons with the Ravens from 2008 to ’25.
