One of the many things to look forward to with the quarantine restrictions easing was that of football season being on the horizon, but even now that looks like it is in jeopardy.
According to ESPN, Clemson’s football team has a total of 23 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since players returned to campus two weeks ago. The news comes after the school announced 28 new positive tests among its student-athletes and staff out of 315 whom were tested.
The state of South Carolina peaked with its highest number of total positive tests and highest percentage of positive tests on Friday, and the percentage of positive tests from the school’s athletic department is more than double the national average.
Per Clemson, the majority of those testing positive were asymptomatic with nobody needing to be hospitalized. Those affected will be placed in isolation for a minimum of 10 teams.
