The Kansas City Chiefs put all their eggs into one basketball this offseason by trading starting Pro Bowl Quarterback Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins in favor for soon to be first-year starter Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes obviously impressed Chiefs coaches enough last season in order to have them pull the trigger, but the former Texas Tech signal caller is reportedly off to a shaky start in his first year as the starter.
In Thursday’s practice, Mahomes threw interceptions in each all of the team’s 7-on-7 drills as well as completing less than 50 percent of his passes, quite the opposite of Smith who was known for not turning the ball over pairing with an outstanding completion percentage.
Mahomes didn’t seemed to be fazed though, saying, “If you want to make mistakes, you make them now. “You don’t want to make those mistakes in the game.” (ESPN.com)
