Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to restructure his deal to give him $210.6 million over the next for years, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The new restructured deal gives Mahomes a raise to just over $51 million a year, moving him back into the top 5 highest paid quarterbacks in the NFL.
Schefter adds that the two sides will come back to the negotiating table in 2026 when more quarterbacks get paid.
Mahomes became the highest-paid player in NFL history in the summer of 2020 when he signed a 10-year extension worth $450 million. NO player has since topped that contract in terms of total value but we’ve seen several quarterbacks including Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow pass up Mahomes in average annual pay.
The Chiefs are coming off a 17-9 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars and will go back to Arrowhead to host the Chicago Bears in Week 3.
