REPORT: Cowboys’ Dan Quinn A “Strong Candidate” To Replace Pete Carroll Has Seahawks Head Coach

Following the shocking announcement that Pete Caroll was parting ways with the Seattle Seahawks, a strong favorite has emerged to replace him.. and he’s a familiar face.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is considered a “strong candidate” to be hired by the Seahawks.

Adam Schefter of ESPN’s confirmed that Quinn is expected to draw interest from the Seahawks, “amongst others.”

Carroll had been the Seahawks head coach since January of 2010. He’s the franchise’s all-time leader in games coached (227), wins (137), playoff games (19) and playoff wins (10)/

He led the Seahawks to their first Super Bowl in 2013 and also played in Super Bowl 49 in 2014.

Seahawks chair Jody Allen announced on Wednesday that Carroll will remain with the organization in an advisory role.

Hiring Quinn to replace Carroll makes all the sense in the world for the Seahawks. He spent four seasons over two different stints in Seattle from 2019 to 2010 and 2013 to 2014. He was their defensive coordinator during the early years of the Legion of Boom that helped the team defeat the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 48.

Quinn is currently preparing the Cowboys defense for Sunday’s NFC Wild Card Round game against the Green Bay Packers at AT&T Stadium at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.
