Justin Fields Says The Chargers, Raiders And Ravens Had Interest In Trading For Him

Justin Fields couldn’t ask for a better start to his Pittsburgh Steelers career, as he’s led the team to a 3-0 start in 2024.

Fields, the former first round pick, was traded to Pittsburgh after the Bears zeroed in on selecting Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in 2024 NFL Draft.

While Fields was originally brought to Pittsburgh to be Russell Wilson’s backup, the former Ohio State product has been starting in his place, as Wilson deals with a calf injury.

Fields admitted that he almost wasn’t a Steeler. In fact, he revealed on his teammate Cam Hayward’s podcast that there were three teams that were interested in trading of rhim.

During an appearance on Steelers teammate Cam Heyward’s podcast, Fields said that the teams who showed interest already had starting quarterbacks, and that he wanted to go somewhere where he could compete for a starting job.

“I’m not sure of all the teams, but there were a lot of teams that already had solidified quarterbacks and I didn’t want to do that. Chargers were one, Ravens were another,” Fields said.

“Raiders, they talked a little bit. I don’t know too much. Who else was in there I don’t know, but a lot of teams had solidified quarterbacks who just got new contracts so I didn’t want to be there.”

Fields is now in Pittsburgh, where he’s making the most of his opportunity. He has the chance to take the Steelers to 4-0 on Sunday with a win against the Colts, giving them their best start to a season since 2020.
