Broncos’ Dre Greenlaw Suspended One Game By NFL For Verbally Threatening Referee After Giants Game

Denver Broncos linebacker Dre Greenlaw has been suspended one game by the NFL for unsportsmanlike conduct towards a referee following the Broncos’ 33-32 win over the New York Giants.

According to the NFL’s statement, Greenlaw “chased after referee Brad Allen and verbally threatened him as he tried to leave the field.”

Video posted by a CBS Colorado reporter shows Greenlaw’s encounter with Allen.

The NFL said Greenlaw violated Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1(b), which prohibits “the use of abusive, threatening or insulting language or gestures to opponents, teammates, officials, or representatives of the League.”

Greenlaw has three days to appeal his suspension under the collective bargaining agreement.
