The Washington Redskins are the Redskins no more.
The franchise announced Monday morning that they are officially retiring the iconic name due to racially insensitive undertones and mounting pressure from figures, fans and sponsors.
Though nobody is sure the direction the team will go, the names Redtails, Red Wolves, and Monuments have gained traction on social media, and designers have already begun creating concepts for what they think the new team in D.C. should look like.
