In Other News, 70,000 People Have Become Panther Fans In The Last 24 Hours

Hmmm we’ve seen this same exact somewhere before, oh yeah that’s right! With the Seahawks last year. Surprising.

We decided it would be interesting to see just how many more Panthers fan would be born after they were able to easily bypass the Arizona Cardinals and reach the Super Bowl…and our answer? Roughly 70,000.

The team’s Facebook page grew at astronomical levels in just the past 24 hours, jumping from 1,963,333 to a casual 2,033,246 followers.

To put this into perspective, 70,000 likes is 3.5% of the 2 million total. If this were an everyday occurrence, the page would have 511 million likes…

Now granted, most of these new ‘likes’ are not all fair weather fans seeing an opportunity, but nevertheless, the bandwagon is strong with this one!

  1. If those two screen shots were taken 24 hours apart why is the same ‘Back in Black’ post on top with the same “26 minutes” ago time stamp?

  2. Take a close look at the two photos. The numbers have been photoshopped. If you look to the post on the right of each screenshot you’ll see that the numbers grew those 70,000 in less than a minute, whereas the article says it happened over a day. It says: Carolina Panthers, 26 mins, Back in Black. #KeepPounding. The 26 mins never changes, but the Likes do. However I won’t argue the bandwagon fans angle, just the obvious attempt to point fingers and laugh.

    • Except when you go to the actual page, the amount of likes is now at 2,034,743 people and the Back in Black post is from 3 days ago.

  3. this is hilarious, when they got called out for photoshopping it, they went back and changed the image, as of my posting the thieves avenue post was 23 hours ago, and back in black 3 hours ago, this means that at the time of the back in black posting the thieves ave photo would be at 20 hours ago. Seeing as how it is 22 hours ago in this picture, it means the picture on the left was done 2 hours after the one on the right, so I guess we lost 70,000 fans in 2 hours. Keep Pounding. and keep trying haters.

  4. Liking a page does not mean being a fan. I’ve been a Hawks fan since ’99, but my Facebook likes include the Pats, the Cowboys, the Cardinals, and the Panthers…all teams I like to follow…some to watch them win, some to watch them lose.
