Facebook Turns Down Opportunity To Live-Stream NFL Games Next Season

Screen Shot 2016-04-01 at 5.14.12 PMThe NFL is actively looking for a media partner to provide online stream its Thursday night and Sunday morning games this season, but as of Friday, that company will no longer be Facebook.

The league already has deals in place with NBC and CBS to air Thursday night games under the umbrella of Thursday Night Football, but wants to provide a more main stream way for its fans to watch those games, games which aren’t watched as heavily, especially the games in London, when most of us here in the states are still sleeping.

Bloomberg News reported that Facebook withdrew from the bidding due to differences in opinion on advertising. The NFL wants to earn revenue from ads on the site, while Facebook saw a site without ads within the video.

Those still in the running include Amazon and Verizon.
