With the emergence of Odell Beckham Jr and rookie wide receiver Sterling Shepard, the New York Giants made a tough decision on Monday.

The team has released they are releasing their long-time wide receiver Victor Cruz according to Kim Jones of NFL Network:

Cruz, who was a huge fan favorite in New York, had a great story.

He was an undrafted rookie who came onto the scene in 2011, helping the New York Giants win Super Bowl 46.

But recently, Cruz was dealing with injuries, he missed all of 2015 recovering from a torn patella tendon and never seemed to find his footing this past season.

Cruz had 39 receptions for for 586 yards and only one touchdown. He was set to make close to $10 million dollars in 2017.

Victor Cruz told reporters at the Super Bowl that he intends to play football in 2017.
