Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier has been in the hospital since around the midway point of Monday Night Football against Cincinnati, following a collision with Josh Malone of the Bengals that left him with a neck/back injury, diagnosed as a spinal contusion.

In a statement released by the team, Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said Shazier underwent a CT scan and an MRI at the hospital and that he will not need surgery at this time. He said Shazier will remain in the hospital overnight for further evaluation with “hopes of returning to Pittsburgh on Tuesday.”
There is good news as of Tuesday morning, with reports that Shazier does have slight movement in his lower extremities.
#Steelers LB Ryan Shazier has shown promising signs this morning. I’m told he has some movement in his lower extremities after last night’s back injury, but the next 24-48 hours are key for increased improvement.

Shazier will remain in the University of Cincinnati Medical Center to undergo further evaluation, but has hopes to return to Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
