BREAKING: Patriots Offensive Coordinator Josh McDaniels Rejects Colts Head Coaching Job, Will Stay In NE

Bill Belichick and the Patriots were looking at an off-season coming off a Super Bowl loss were they would have to replace both the team’s offensive and defensive coordinators, who left for head coaching gigs elsewhere. That was until Josh McDaniels changed his mind.

The Pats play-caller already verbally accepted to terms on a head coaching job with the Indianapolis Colts this, but according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it’s off. He will remain in New England even after the Colts officially announced the hiring on their Twitter account.

A logical explanation for the decision could stem from the reported Belichick/Kraft saga within the organization, with the team wanting to retain McDaniels for a head coaching position there once Belichick’s contract expires in 2019.

Schefter also noted Kraft was integral in keeping McDaniels put.
