Julius Peppers Announces Retirement After 17 NFL Seasons

After 17 seasons in the NFL, Julius Peppers is calling it quits.

Peppers, 39, was drafted with the second overall pick by the Carolina Panthers in 2002, spending the majority of his career there before spending four season with the Chicago Bears and three with the Green Bay Packers.

Finishing 159.5 sacks, he retires in the fourth position on the all-time sack list. The defensive end also recorded 21 fumble recoveries and 11 interceptions over the course of his career.

“Only time can reveal what’s next, but my time here is up. No regrets, no looking back and nothing left to give,” Peppers said in a video message posted by the team.
