With the topic of domestic violence a prevalent one in the NFL, it seems as if many teams are staying away from any player with a current or previous history involving such a crime.
The Tennessee Titans will not be one of those teams.
The team selected Mississippi State Jeffery Simmons with the 19ht overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft despite video of him beating up a woman in 2016.
As expected, both ABC and ESPN’s broadcasts did discuss the topic when discussing the pick.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Simmon’s draft status was severely hurt by the video despite it’s age. Schefter noted one NFL GM regarded Simmons as the “best player in the draft” and multiple teams had him as a top-5 pick.
