Jets Wanted Cowboys’ Zack Martin Or Tyron Smith In Trade For Jamal Adams

The Dallas Cowboys were in hot pursuit of Jets safety Jamal Adams but ultimately trade talks stalled after the Jets asking price was way too steep.

Details are beginning to emerge of how steep that price was.

According to NFL Network Ian Rapoport, the Jets asked for draft picks and one of the more important pieces to the Dallas Cowboys offensive line.

Per the report:

Sources said that when the Dallas Cowboys first called about Adams earlier this week, the Jets asked about the availability of Pro Bowl guard Zack Martin. When the Cowboys quickly shot that down, the Jets inquired about Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith, which was also a “no.”

Dallas’ best offer was a first-round pick and reserve cornerback Anthony Brown. Sources informed of the situation said the Baltimore Ravens and Cowboys were two of the three teams who engaged in a possible Adams deal, with a third unnamed team making the strongest offer.

The trade talks didn’t sit well with Adams, who called out the Jets general manager on Twitter but later backtracked on his comments, saying he was “at peace” after talks with Jets owner Christopher Johnson.
