Redskins Coach Ron Rivera Told Tua Tagovailoa He Wants To Draft Him To Replace Dwayne Haskins

The Redskins took Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins No. 2 overall in last year’s draft, but may follow the Arizona Cardinals model and take another quarterback a year later.

While many expect Washington to select another Buckeye alum in Chase Young in Las Vegas come April, Tua Tagovailoa could be walking across the stage instead.

A source told the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the Redskins told the Alabama quarterback that they want to draft him to compete, and eventually replace Haskins.

“They felt like Dwayne was not the guy right now,” the source said. “They want to bring in Tua, just get it going and compete.”

The source also noted that Tagovailoa would prefer to be drafted by the Dolphins, and believes Miami is a good fit for him.

The Redskins are ushering in a new regime with new head coach Ron Rivera, who is coaching in D.C. after his tenure in Carolina with the Panthers.
