After 22 years, the day has finally come. Vince Carter is calling it quits.
The 43-year-old announced on the Winging It Podcast that he is “officially finished playing basketball.”
While many would suspect the announcement has something to due with COVID-19 and its effect on the league, but Carter’s Atlanta Hawks failed to make the NBA’s restructured postseason that is scheduled to tip off in Orlando in the coming weeks. It was more the final straw.
Carter was the last player from the 1990’s remaining in the league and will be remember most for his contributions to the art of dunking as well as the dunk contest.
