Chargers Team Doctor Accidentally Punctured Tyrod Taylor’s Lung With Needle Before Kickoff

Chargers top draft pick Justin Herbert saw his first career NFL snaps earlier than expected after Tyrod Taylor was taken out of Sunday’s game due to injury.

Though it was reported as a chest injury, it wasn’t clear when Taylor suffered the injury, and now we know why.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the shocking news Wednesday morning that the LA Chargers team doctor accidentally punctured the QB’s lung prior to the game while administering a pain-killing injection to Taylor’s cracked ribs.

He ended up doing more damage than he was initially repairing.

The starting QB for the Chargers next week against the Panthers has yet to be named, but it’s likely Herbert will be making his first career start.
