History was made during Saturday’s Vanderbilt University vs University of Missouri’s College.
Sarah Fuller walked onto the field and kicked off the football for the Commodores, marking the first time a woman has ever played in a power five conference college football game.
“I think it’s amazing and incredible,” Fuller said in an interview leading up to the game. “But I’m also trying to separate that because I know this is a job I need to do and I want to help the team out and I want to do the best that I can.”
Fuller was brought into action due to the loss of players out because of COVID-19. Fuller is a goalkeeper on the Vanderbuilt women’s soccer team, making the transition to kicker relatively natural.
