Disney couldn’t create a more fantastical story if they tried relative to the fiasco surrounding Bishop Sycamore’s Football Team.
IMG Academy, the nation’s No. 2 ranked team, took on the unknown school of Bishop Sycamore live on National Television last week, and got destroyed 58-0. IMG tends to do that to opponents, but it was the opponent that was the story.
Bishop got on ESPN by telling the network’s search firm Paragon Marketing Group that they had numerous high star recruits with offers from a plethora top schools, of course none of which was the slightest bit true.
After being found to be fraudulent, the team was investigated further and found to be on online school who went 0-6 last season, coached by a head coach with an active arrest warrant. The team was filled with 20-something Junior College players that weren’t listed on the rosters given to the broadcast booth before the game. Oh, and for the team meals? They would rob local grocery stores.
Bishop Sycamore had a slew of top schools scheduled against them during the remainder of 2021.
As it only deserves, a documentary is being produced on the team, which will be directed by Kevin Hart’s production company, HartBeat Productions.
