Jon Gruden tenure in Las Vegas is over just as he was starting to get settled.
The now former Las Vegas Raiders coach and wife, Cindy, had finally closed on their new $4.31 million home in the Las Vegas area. To make things more awkward, Derek Carr was building a home right next to him int he 1,000-home exclusive enclave surrounding Southern Highlands Golf Club, according to Review Journal.
The two-story home, which has two lots totaling about 1.7 acres, sits on a lot that measures 0.77 acres. It has 6,850 square feet on the first floor, 1,834 square feet on the second floor and a garage measuring 1,938 square feet, according to county property records.
The home has five bedrooms, five full bathrooms and two half bathrooms:
Gruden was in year four of a 10-year, $100 million deal he signed with the Raiders in 2018. He won’t be finishing that now, but one thinks he might have to stay in the are at least fo the foreseeable future as his football and broadcasting careers are over.
As far as Derek Carr goes, his home went for $3.6 million, and is also a two-story home that features five bedrooms, eight baths, an office and an eight-car garage.
Shortly after announcing his resignation from the team, former Raiders head coach Jon Gruden released a statement in which he apologized to the team’s players, coaches, staff and fans for becoming a distraction.
“I have resigned as Head Coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. I love the Raiders and do not want to be a distraction,” Gruden’s statement read, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. “Thank you to all the players, coaches, staff, and fans of Raider Nation. I’m sorry, I never meant to hurt anyone.”
Three days after Wall Street Journal reported that Gruden had used a racist slur to describe NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith, The New York Times released further emails detailing Gruden’s repeated usages of misogynistic and anti-LGBTQ slurs directed toward numerous people throughout the NFL, including commissioner Roger Goodell.
