Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray created a huge social media whirlwind last week when he scrubbed all references of the Cardinals from his social media accounts.
On Sunday, a report surfaced from ESPN’s Chris Mortensen with an anonymous Cardinals’ source criticizing the quarterback as “self-centered, immature and a finger pointer.”
Following that report, Murray released this statement on his Twitter account:
“I play this game for the love of it, my teammates, everyone who has helped me get to this position that believed in me & to win championships. All of this nonsense is not what I’m about, never has been, never will be. Anyone who has ever stepped between those lines with me knows how hard I go.
“Love me or hate me but I’m going to continue to grow and get better.”
Following the damning ESPN report, the Cardinals also issued this statement saying:
Murray, who as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, is now eligible for a contract extension. Meanwhile, the Cardinals must decide whether or not to pick-up Murray’s fifth-year option before the start of the new league year.
