Jets WR Denzel Mims Has Publicly Requested A Trade: “Its Time”

Jets WR Denzel Mims has requested a trade for the team, per a statement from his agent Ron Salvin, according to Brian Costello of the New York Post.

In his statement, Salvin wrote as follows:

“It’s just time. Denzel has tried in good faith but it’s clear he does not have a future with the Jets. Denzel has vowed to come back better than ever this season and he worked extremely hard this offseason to make that happen. Still, he has been given no opportunities to work with the starting offense to get into a groove with them. We feel at this point a trade is our only option, since the Jets have repeatedly told us they will not release him. Joe Douglas has always done right by Denzel and we trust that he will do everything in his power to find another team where Denzel can be a contributor.”

Mims has been running with the third string group this offseason and played sparingly during the team’s Week 2 preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons.

He has made his frustrations quite clear in recent weeks, both to head coach Robert Saleh and to the media.

The Jets selected Mims in the second round (59th overall) in the 2020 NFL Draft. The 24-year-old has just 31 receptions for 490 yards in his career.
