Patrick Mahomes Explained What Happened During Heated Exchange With Eric Beinemy During Loss To Colts

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was not happy about the way the first half ended for the Kansas City Chiefs offense on Sunday. Even though the team was leading 14-10 at the half, Mahomes appeared upset as he headed tot he locker room and apparently he was pissed at offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

As the two guys started heading off the field, cameras caught Mahomes and Bieniemy getting into a spat. At one point in the video below, Mahomes took his helmet off and had words with Bieniemy. The two continued to argue until Chiefs coach Andy Reid stepped in to break things up.

After the game, Mahomes was asked about the heated exchange, and this is what he said:

“I wanted to go try to score,” Mahomes said. “That’s just who I am. We were in a tough situation. I believe it was second- or third-and\-20, something like that, and probably the smart decision was to go to halftime. But I’m always going to want to score. I pretty much just said, ‘Let me have a chance at it,’ and he was just like, ‘Let’s get to the locker room and get to the next half.’

“I don’t know if that’s an altercation. That was the end of the conversation.”

The Chiefs lost to the Colts, 20-17 and will host the Las Vegas Raiders next week in Kansas City.
