NFL Insider Says Some NFL GMs Are ‘Fairly Convinced’ Bears Will Trade Justin Fields And Draft QB With No. 1 Pick

Super Bowl LVII is in the books and it’s time for DraftSZN and you know the rumors are going to be coming in ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft.

NFL insider Jason La Canfora tweeted on Wednesday that multiple NFL general managers left the Senior Bowl “fairly convinced” that the Chicago Bears will trade quarterback Justin Fields and use the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 Draft on a quarterback.

It’s important to note that the Bears new general manager Ryan Poles has no ties to Justin Fields and inherited him when he got the job last year. This could also be the Bears putting out smoke so they could maximize the potential value in a trade for the first overall pick.

Fields started 10 games in 12 appearances as a rookie in 2021 before starting in all 15 games which he appeared in this past season. Injuries struck late in the season for Fields in 2022, first a shoulder injury in Week 11 and later a hip injury in Week 17. Though Fields impressed with his rushing figures in 2022, the same couldn’t be said for his passing figures, as he ended the year completing 60.4 percent of his passes for 2,242 yards with an 17-to-11 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
