BREAKING: Eric Bieniemy Is Leaving Chiefs To Become Washington Commanders Offensive Coordinator

After helping the Kansas City Chiefs win their second Super Bowl in four years, Eric Bieniemy is leaving Kansas City for the Washington Commanders.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Bieniemy has agreed to terms on a multi-year deal to become the Commanders’ new offensive coordinator and assistant head coach:

Despite being the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator for each of Patrick Mahomes first five (historic) seasons as a starting quarterback, Bieniemy has been unable to land a head-coaching job in the NFL.

The move to Washington hopefully shows that Bieniemy can have success without Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. If he shows that he can and is still unable to land a head coaching job, then I don’t know what else EB will have to do to prove himself.

The Commanders were in the market for a new offensive coordinator after firing Scott Turner in January. They finished 20th in the NFL in total yards and 24th in points scored during the 2022 season.
