BREAKING: 49ers Sign Former Panthers QB Sam Darnold

Jimmy Garoppolo out, Sam Darnold in.

The 49ers dealt veteran QB Jimmy Garoppolo to the Raiders this afternoon, and quickly replaced him with Sam Darnold.

Clearly, Sam Darnold is not the future with San Francisco, but with both Trey Lance and Brock Purdy potentially entering the 2023 season still with injuries lingering, Darnold will serve as a veteran presence on a team with seemingly every other piece in place.
