RUMOR: The 49ers Have ‘Had Conversations’ With Packers About Aaron Rodgers Trade

Could there be another team that enters the Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes?

That’s exactly what New York radio host Craig Carton said Tuesday as the Jets and Packers remain at a standstill over negations for the longtime Packers quarterback.

Carton said that there have been conversations between the 49ers and Packers centered around “multiple third-round picks in this draft and a first-round draft pick in next year’s draft.”

The 49ers, currently coached by Kyle Shanahan, own three third-round picks and zero first-rounders in the 2023 NFL Draft.

San Francisco sent their 2023 first-rounder to the Dolphins two years ago as part of a package to move up in the 2021 NFL Draft in order to select quarterback Trey Lance third overall.

This wouldn’t be the first time we’ve heard the 49ers connected to Rodgers. Back in April of 2021, San Francisco reached out to Green Bay about trading for the four-time league MVP.

Aaron Rodgers told Pat McAfee last month that he intends to play for the New York Jets in 2023 and while the Packers are content with parting ways with the legendary quarterback, there still seems to be a gap between the compensation the Packers want to receive for him.
