Joe Mixon Boycotting Four Reporters After Being Found Not Guilty On Menacing Charges

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon was found not guilty last week on aggravated meaning charges and had his first opportunity since the acquittal to speak to the media.

He declined to do so.

Instead Mixon announced that he would refuse to answer questions from four specific reports from multiple outlets including ESPN.com, Sports Illustrated and the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The four reporters are: Ben Baby (ESPN), Kelsey Conway (Cincinnati Enquirer), James Rapien (SI), and Jay Morrison (Enquirer).

“It’s not happening,” Mixon said regarding questions from those outlets. He said they had been disrespectful to him. Asked to explain how disrespect had been shown, Mixon said, “You know how.”

The majority of the frustration is directed at ESPN’s Ben Baby. In response to a tweet by Baby explaining that Mixon said he’d been “disrespected” by reporters, Mixon’s agent, Peter Schaffer tweeted this in response:

“You know exactly why we don’t talk to you. You consistently look for the negative and always are putting the players down. We have given you ample chances to correct the situation and you refuse. You made your bed now sleep in it. Don’t tweet to people that you don’t know why.”

Mixon will eventually talk to the media but those four specific reporters have been shunned for the foreseeable future.
