Jaguars HC Doug Pederson Cuts His Son, Josh On Roster Deadline Day

The NFL is a ruthless business and it was even more ruthless this year for the Peterson family.

On Tuesday, NFL teams had to trim their roster from 90 to 53 and in Jacksonville, that meant head coach Doug Pederson had to make a very difficult decision and cut his own son.

Back in July, the Jags signed USFL tight end Josh Pederson to provide depth during training camp and the preseason. They downplayed the fact that he was the coach’s son and on Tuesday when they released him, they downplayed it as well.

But he is Doug’s son. And now he’s looking for a new gig, thanks to his dad’s decision. Tough break.
