REPORT: Chiefs ‘Optimistic’ Travis Kelce Will Play In Week 2 Despite Having ‘No Power’ In Knee During Pool Workout

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs were without their No. 1 offensive weapon as they kicked off their 2023 regular season against the Detroit Lions on Thursday night and it showed.

The Lions went on to defeat the Chiefs, 21-10, in-large part because of the drops by Mahomes’ pass-catchers. Travis Kelce was not playing in the game after he hyperextended his knee during practice earlier in the week.

During the game, NBC’s Melissa Stark gave an update on the matter and while the team is ‘optimistic’ Kelce will be available in Week 2, the details on his pregame workout was not good.

Stark says that Kelce had ‘no power’ in his leg while working out his knee in a pool.

The Chiefs will play the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2 and will need Kelce available given how badly the WRs looked.
