REPORT: Tee Higgins ‘Not Apart’ Of Bengals Future Plans After Joe Burrow’s Contract Extension

It was always going to be difficult for the Cincinnati Bengals to be able to keep the trio of Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins together and following Joe Burrow’s massive extension, it seems like the Bengals have chosen which two of the three they plan on keeping.

Cincinnati.com reporter Kelsey Conway reports that Tee Higgins is not likely to be apart of the Bengals’ long-term plans. might not be a part of the Bengals’ long-term plans. Higgins is entering the final year of his rookie contract and the two sides weren’t close on a contract extension:

Meanwhile, Ja’Marr Chase is eligible for a contract extension after the 2023 season and will likely receive a market-resting deal. Creating space for Chase’s deal and also being able to accommodate for Joe Burrow’s massive five-year, $275 million contract is likely going to cost the Bengals the opportunity to keep Higgins in Cincy.

However, as Conway reports, it’s likely the Bengals won’t let a talented player like Higgins walk away for nothing. They could explore possibly assigning the franchise tag to him and finding another team that would trade for him.
