REPORT: Many Believe The Cardinals Will “Move On” From QB Kyler Murray

Kyler Murray’s time with the Arizona Cardinals may be over.

According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, there’s a growing ‘belief’ that the Arizona Cardinals are undecided at this point about what they want to do with QB Kyler Murray with many outside the organization believing the team will move off of the former No. 1 overall pick:

“The outside speculation — the word I get when talking to agents and executives from other teams — is that the Cardinals likely will move on after this season.”

Graziano adds that the “vast majority” of front office people from around the league he spoke with said “it would be difficult to imagine a team giving the Cardinals something of value for Murray if they did not know for a fact that he was healthy, and that the only act o know for sure about his health would be to see him play or at least a few games this season.”

Murray has been on the physically unable to perform list all season. He is currently rehabbing a torn ACL he suffered in a Week 14 loss to the New England Patriots last year.

This week was the first time Murray was eligible to come off the PUP list, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported he’s still “weeks away” from being ready to play.

When the Cardinals remove Murray from the PUP list, he will have a 21-day practice window to get ready. At the end of that period, the team has to decide if it will put him on the 53-man roster.

Murray is under contract until after the 2028 season and has a $51.9 million cap hit in 2024.

The 1-3 Cardinals have turned to Josh Dobbs in Murray’s absence and have been a pleasant surprise as they stay competitive throughout games. Their one win was one of the biggest upsets of the seasons as they took down the Dallas Cowboys.

They will host the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
