REPORT: Deshaun Watson Not Playing vs 49ers Despite HC Kevin Stefanski Saying He’s Been “Medically Cleared”

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is expected to miss a second straight game with a shoulder injury despite having a bye week in between games and being “medically cleared”, according to Josina Anderson.

The Browns are hosting the undefeated San Francisco 49ers on Sunday at First Energy Stadium but will turn to backup QB P.J. Walker to start in his place.

Watson missed his second straight practice on Wednesday.

The shoulder injury has been a weird saga involving Watson. Initially, head coach Kevin Stefanski said that it was Watson’s decision to not play vs Ravens despite being medically cleared. This led to GM Andrew Berry to later clarify that it was a ‘mutual decision’ between Watson and the team.

When the Browns signed Deshaun Watson to a $230 million fully guaranteed contract, they expected better results.
