The NFL saw yet another star quarterback suffer an injury on Monday Night as Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence was helped off the field after suffering an ankle injury.
The replay showed Lawrence’s ankle get stepped on and his knee bend awkwardly. It did not look good. But the initial diagnosis gives a reason to be cautiously optimistic.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Jaguars believe Lawrence suffered an ankle sprain but he will have an MRI to determine the severity of it.
Lawrence was 22 of 29 for 258 yards and two passing touchdowns, plus a score on the ground, at the time of his departure. He was replaced by C.J. Bethard who will likely start in place of Lawrence should he miss any games.
