On Sunday, one of the worst seasons in New England Patriots history will to an end with one final game against the New York Jets.

After that, all eyes will be on Patriots team owner Robert Kraft and what decision he will make regarding longtime head coach Bill Belichick.

Many have speculated over the last couple of months that Kraft will in-fact do the unthinkable and partways with Belichick but one NFL Insider is pouring some serious cold water on that theory.

“At some point Robert Kraft says: ‘You know what? I’m just going to move on,”‘ and fires Bill Belichick. That seems to be to be highly, highly unlikely,” said Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Rapoport mentions that there are scenarios where Belichick remains the team’s head coach but relinquishes his role as the teams’ general manager. Belichick and the Patriots could agree to “mutually part ways” but in that scenario, the Patriots wouldn’t be compensated for Belichick leaving.

Could the Patriots trade Belichick? That could happen as well.

Belichick needs less than 30 wins to pass Don Shula and become the NFL’s all-time winningest coach.
