BREAKING: Patriots Are Hiring Jerod Mayo As New Head Coach

That was fast.

The New England Patriots have a new head coach, hiring Jerod Mayo to take over as Bill Belichick’s successor, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Patriots were able to move quickly and make Mayo their head coach because of a clause in his last contract as linebackers coach.

Mayo replaces Bill Belichick, who won six Super Bowls, nine AFC titles and 17 AFC East crowns during his 24-year career with the Pats. Belichick and the Pats mutually parted ways after the 2023 campaign.

Mayo will reportedly be introduced at a press conference next week.
