It seems like Brandon Aiyuk’s days in San Francisco are over.
According to Matt Maiocco NBC Sports Bay Area, the 49ers have ‘negotiated the framework’ for a trade that would send Brandon Aiyuk to either the New England Patriots or Cleveland Browns.
The next step in this saga is whether or not Aiyuk is able to come to an agreement on a contract with either of the teams.
In addition, the report states that the 49ers have given permission to Aiyuk to negotiate a contract with either the Browns, Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Commanders. However, the Commanders have ‘removed themselves from trade talks’ while the Steelers are no longer an option after they declined to meet the 49ers trade demands.
The 49ers are likely to acquire a veteran wide receiver and a package of draft picks from the Browns or Patriots.
The Patriots are expected to include former 49ers wide receiver Kendrick Bourne as part of the deal if Aiyuk were to accept New England’s offer while the Browns are willing to include Amari Cooper in the trade.
Earlier today, the NFL Network reported that it was more likely that Aiyuk is traded instead of signing an extension to stay in San Francisco.
The 26-year old star receiver reported to 49ers training camp on time but has not taken part in any practice this summer and likely wont’ with any team until he receives a contract extension.
Aiyuk is coming off back to back seasons of leading the 49ers in receptions and receiving yards. He was named second-team All Pro after racking up 75 catches for 1,342 yards seven touchdowns.
