Prior to the start of the Kansas City Chiefs season opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night, NBC Sports analyst and former NFL safety Rodney Harrison made his feelings known about Chiefs’ rookie wide receiver, Xavier Worthy.
Harrison confidently dismissed the potential threat posed by Worthy, a former Texas Longhorn standout, who broke the NFL Combine record for 40-yard dash with a remarkable 4.21 second finish. Worthy was selected in the first round by the Chiefs and many expect him to be a key weapon for Kansas City.
Despite the blazing speed, Harrison was not impressed by the hype surrounding Worthy.
“Xavier Worthy is this little skinny guy, he doesn’t scare me,” Harrison said in the pregame show. “I know he is fast, but he doesn’t scare me.”
Worthy wasted no time proving Harrison wrong. On the Chiefs’ first drive of the game, Worthy showed off that lighting fast speed on a jet sweep to dart past defenders to score a 21-yard touchdown. Later in the game, Worthy, again, showed off his speed by running a fly out and catching a 35-yard touchdown.
Seems like this was another bad take by Rodney Harrison..
