Jets Didn’t Allow Robert Saleh To Meet With Players And Had Security Escort Him Out Of Team Facility

The New York Jets remain one of the most dysfunctional teams in the NFL.

Details are beginning to emerge in the firing of head coach Robert Saleh and it doesn’t look good for the Jets. According to Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz, Saleh showed up for work to prepare for the Buffalo Bills and was informed he was fired, he was then escorted out of the building by team security.

He was not allowed to meet with the players to inform him about anything.

This report was also shared by Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, who confirmed that Saleh was escorted out of the building by the Jets director of security. Florio called it an unusual move considering the Jets didn’t do it to any of the previous coaches they’ve fired, most recently Adam Gase.

The firing not only caught fans off guard, the same appears to apply to Saleh. According to FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer, Saleh was “blindsided” by Jets owner Woody Johnson delivering the news on Tuesday morning.

“This was not an easy decision, but we are not where we should be given our expectations,” team owner Woody Johnson said in a statement, “and I believe now is the best time for us to move in a different direction.”

Saleh had gone 20-36 during his tenure as Jets head coach. After wielding a top-five defense in consecutive years, they’re currently second behind the Tennessee Titans with 255.8 yards allowed per game.

However, the offense has yet to find any spark under Saleh. Following years of abysmal quarterback play, they remain 27th in total yards and 25th in scoring behind Aaron Rodgers.

Defensive coordinator  Jeff Ulbrich was named as the interim coach and the Jets will somehow try to prepare for a big Monday night game against the Buffalo Bills next week.
