The Detroit Lions are locking up one of their core offensive players.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Lions and running back David Montgomery agree to a two-year, $18.25 million contract extension on Saturday.
Schefter adds that the extension includes $10.5 million in new guaranteed money.
Montgomery still has two years remaining on a three-year deal worth $18 million that he signed with the Lions as a free agent during the 2023 season. With this new extension, he remains under contract through the 2027 season.
With Jahmyr Gibbs still on his rookie contract and a potential fifth-year option for the 2027 season, the Lions will keep one of the league’s top running back duos together for several years to come.
