Despite being 4-2 and tied for first place in the AFC North, the Pittsburgh Steelers are likely going to be making a quarterback change.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Steelers are planning to give Russell Wilson first-team reps this week, putting him in line to start over Justin Fields this Sunday night against the New York Jets.
With Wilson’s calf injury now fully healed, the veteran quarterback is set to make his Pittsburgh debut.
The 35-year-old Wilson has not played this season for the Steelers due to a calf strain, but is now close to 100% and is expected to become the Steelers starting quarterback.
Fields has filled in well for Wilson in his absence, as he’s completed 66.3% of his passes for 1,106 yards and five passing touchdowns to one interception. He has also added 231 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground as well.
