Refs Missed Obvious Facemask Penalty During Eagles-Commanders Game On Thursday Night Football

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: The referees missed an obvious facemask penalty during Thursday Night Football.

During Thursday’s night’s Commanders-Eagles game in Philadelphia, Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu grabbed the bottom of Eagles wide receiver Devonta Smith’s helmet and yanked it.

The referee threw the flag and after a discussion and replay showing that Lulu clearly grabbed the are of the helmet that is considered a facemask penalty, the referee picked up the flag.

The Eagles were still able to extend the drive and score a touchdown to take the lead.
