Rex Ryan Says New York Jets Have Interest In Him Returning As Head Coach

Despite not coaching in the NFL since 2016, Rex Ryan may be back in the mix for a head coaching job.

Ryan told Jake Asman of ESPN New York radio Monday morning that he expects to speak with the New York Jets about their head coaching vacancy once the regular season concludes.

Ryan was the Jets as head coach from 2019 to 2014 and led them to the AFC Championship Game one each of his first two seasons. The Jets didn’t make the playoffs in any of Rex’s final four seasons, which led to him being let go in 2014 when the team finished 4-12. He was then quickly hired as the head coach of the Buffalo Bills, who he coached for just two seasons.

Ryan says he expects to get his shot to tell Jets’ brass why he’s the best fit for the job and to return the team to the playoffs for the first time in over a decade, when he was the head coach.
