Following a bunch of burglaries that affected a number of athletes over the past few months, some arrests have been made in connection to the burglary that was done at the home of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
According to TMZ, four Chilean nationals were arrested earlier this month on charges relating to Burrow’s house being robbed back in December. Per the report, the nationals were found to be in the country either illegally or having overstayed their permissions were in possession of various items that they believe were taken from Burrow’s home.
“Authorities wrote in the docs that the men — who were ‘illegally in the country or overstayed their permissions’ — were in possession of an LSU shirt and Bengals ballcap that they think were taken from Burrow’s place,” TMZ reported.
Other evidence included “Husky automatic center punch tools” that are commonly used by a well-known South American Theft Group to break glass and enter homes.
The four men, identified as Alexander Chavez, Bastian Morales, Jordan Sanchez and Sergio Cabello, were also found to have phone cell site data proving that they were in the area of the burglary at Burrow’s home.
urrow is not the only one who has faced a home burglary recently though. Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, along with veteran defensive tackle Linval Joseph also reported burglaries over the past few months.
Federal authorities have linked the burglaries a South American gang, who breaks into homes, make off with valuables and return home before they can be tracked down.
The league has been working with authorities and security experts to advise players on how to better protect their homes.
