REPORT: Giants Are Interested In Signing Free Agent QB Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson will have multiple teams interested in him when free agency opens.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Wilson is “open” to a return to the Pittsburgh Steelers but he will take a wider approach in the open market. While the Las Vegas Raiders have been floated as a potential destination for Wilson, Fowler says the New York Giants are also linked to the signal-caller.

“Wilson loved his season in Pittsburgh and is open to returning but is taking a see-what-happens approach to it all,” Fowler wrote. “Ex-Pete Carroll assistants believe Wilson could coexist with Carroll for the Raiders, too, having mended fences from their Seattle days. But others around the league are skeptical of the pairing. Wilson has also been connected to the Giants by a few people this week. He visited with the Giants last free agency, and New York is on his radar as a potential option in 2025.”

Wilson missed the first six games of the 2024 season with Pittsburgh due to an injured calf but started the remainder of the season. He threw for 2,482 yards with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions while leading the team to a 10-7 record and a playoff berth. It was a positive step after a difficult two-year tenure with the Denver Broncos, and Wilson could conceivably cash in on a new deal.

New York went 3-14 in 2024 and cut ties with quarterback Daniel Jones during the season. The franchise has the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and could opt to take a quarterback with that selection, but the prospect of signing Wilson and taking a talented player could be intriguing for head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen.

Wilson wouldn’t be a long-term solution with the Giants, but he could help build the culture while the team develops a quarterback selected with a later pick or waits for the 2026 draft class.
